Emergencies

In the event your child has a dental emergency, please call our office immediately. Our answering service will contact us if the emergency occurs after regular office hours. You may reach the on-call pediatric dentist by calling our regular office number 757.482.4777.

Please note that we share week-end on-call duties with a group of 10 local pediatric dentists.

Loss of a Tooth
If your child sustains an injury where a permanent tooth has been knocked out of the mouth, plug the basin drain and rinse the tooth gently in water. Do not scrub or touch the root of the tooth. If possible, insert and hold the tooth in the socket. If impossible to reinsert in the socket, keep the tooth moist in cool milk or water and immediately bring your child and the tooth to the office. Treatment within the first 30 minutes is critical.
